Celebrate Summer's Last Hurrah!

We'll celebrate Summer's Last Hurrah with a Westbridge block party at the neighborhood poolon Saturday, Sept. 9. Come on down to the pool after the Badgers game and take in the final rays of summer 2017. Everyone in Westbridge is welcome at the block party, which will start at 3 p.m. and go until the pool closes.

Early summer updates

Here are a few updates from the pool board about the membership process, rules for pool parties and more:

MEMBERSHIP PROCESS

ELIGIBILITY
Only residents of Westbridge or Kilkenny subdivisions may be members of the Westbridge Neighborhood Pool. Application forms are available at the pool or can be downloaded from the "Forms" section of westbridgepool.com.

PROCESS
The sponsor and/or co-sponsor (normally the parents) must complete the membership application form. They should include all the family members who LIVE in the home with them (this may include adult children and in some cases, one or more of the sponsor parents). Anyone else (including children who no longer live at home) who they may wish to bring to the pool is considered a guest. Both sponsor and co-sponsor need to sign this form.

The sponsor and/or co-sponsor also need to complete the Insurance Waiver form and add the names of those living with them at the bottom of the form. Both Sponsor and Co-Sponsor need to sign this form.

Write a check for the appropriate fee — see the "Forms" page for the 2017 rates.

Either mail (to the P.O. Box on the form) or take the forms and check with you to the pool. If you mail the forms there maybe a week or so delay before your names are added to the register but if you take the forms to the pool the monitor will add your family names immediately.

NEXT STEPS FOR YOU
You should receive a key fob and a guest pass from the monitor. You can leave the guest pass at the pool with the monitor if you prefer.

BABYSITTERS
If you intend to use babysitters you will need to complete a babysitter form for each sitter. Each babysitter must also complete and sign an Insurance Waiver form. Cost is $25 for the first babysitter and $5 for each additional sitter. Grandpa and Grandma count as one babysitter.

NOTE Prospective residents may use the pool for one day for a fee of $25. However, they do need to complete an insurance waiver form before using the pool.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR PARTIES AT THE POOL

We are happy for members to hold parties at the pool within the following guidelines:

WEEKDAYS: Choose two hours between 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. Cost is $3 per guest with a minimum fee of $50 and a maximum of 30 guests. Tables will be set aside under the shelter for your use but the pool will still be open to other members. Please provide a list of guests at least two days before the event and ensure you clean up at the end of the party.

WEEKENDS and HOLIDAYS: Choose two hours between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. Cost is $4 per guest with a minimum fee of $65 and a maximum of 30 guests. Tables will be set aside under the shelter for your use but the pool will still be open to other members. Please provide a list of guests at least two days before the event and ensure you clean up at the end of the party. Hours are more restricted as the pool tends to be busiest at weekends.

Anyone wishing to hold a party should contact the secretary with proposed dates and times at least one week before the planned party. The secretary can be reached through the website or directly by e-mail at drjames1345@gmail.com. Payment can be made in advance (mail to P.O. Box 342, Waunakee) by check or on the day of the party (to the monitor) by check or credit card.

Annual pool meeting on Thursday, March 9

Pool season is coming soon! The annual meeting for the Westbridge Pool will be on Thursday March 9 at 6 p.m. at the Waunakee Village Center Conference Room A. Annual fees paid on or before the meeting will be discounted by $50 — so $350 for families and $250 for couples. Please complete the application form and insurance forms, which can be found on the pool web site www.westbridgepool.com, and hand in with your payment. The pool board will also be able to take credit/debit card payments at the meeting.

Here are a few things to know:

Fee Discount To keep it fair for all, the $50 discount on annual membership will only be applied for applications received at or before the annual meeting. For families the discounted rate will be $350 and for couples $250 if paid before March 8, 2017. Application and Insurance forms are on the pool website and can be mailed to the P.O. Box, dropped off at 762 Westbridge Trail or brought with you to the annual meeting. We will also lower the family membership fee to $300 for those joining after July 6th and to $150 for those joining after August 16.

Board Members If anyone would like to nominate themselves for any of the board positions (president, vice president, treasurer or secretary) please David James know as soon as possible and ahead of the meeting so that new incumbents can be introduced at the meeting (and have a say in the arrangements for this year).

Maintenance Person Mike came to our rescue at the end of last year after Brian left, but we need someone to take on the responsibility of overseeing the mechanical room at the pool. This need not be anywhere near the full time position that Brian made it as the monitors will be expected to have a bigger part to play this year, but we do need someone to step up please. Badger Pools will provide the training and support for the position so previous experience is not essential. Membership fees will be waived for a single volunteer or discounted if the responsibility is shared by two or more members.

Monitors Most if not all of the monitors from the past two years will not be available in 2017 so we need a new team. Monitors must be at least 16, and Kraig (or the new vice president) will conduct the training and interviews.

Save the date for a pool party on Sept. 10

All Westbridge Neighborhood Pool members are invited for an end-of-summer evening at the pool on Saturday, Sept. 10, starting at 4:30 p.m.! Come out and enjoy some traditional picnic food and beverages with all your pool friends for one last hurrah before the pool is closed for the season. Feel free to bring a sweet treat or some munchies if you like, but you are not obligated to do so.  Stay for a family friendly movie that will start when it gets dark.

RSVP to the Evite.

(The rain date will be on either Friday, Sept. 9, from 5 to 10 p.m. or Sunday, Sept. 11, from 4 to 8 p.m.)

Kiddie pool update from the Pool Board

Hello everyone!  Due to the recent onset of "accidents" in the kiddie pool, we just wanted to take a minute to review the Kiddie Pool Rules and Expectations:

1.  All children who are not potty trained are expected to wear swim diapers.  Don't be surprised if the monitors check in with you to make sure that this is occurring.

2.  Swim diapers are not allowed to be worn alone with no swimsuit over them.

3.  Please make sure that you are by the kiddie pool at all times when your children are playing so that you may be able to stop the problem before it happens. It has been noticed by the monitors that parents are not closely watching their children in this area or even near the kiddie pool while their children play. It is important to be right there for their safety and that a soiled diaper can be recognized prior to it getting so bad that it leaks into the pool.

4.  Please check your children's diapers regularly to prevent this from happening but if an accident occurs, please let a monitor know immediately so that you we try and catch the problem very quickly.

5.  Lastly, please make sure that guests are also aware of these policies.

We appreciate your attention to this matter as it is becoming very costly and time consuming to drain, re-fill, and make sue the chemicals and levels are where they need to be to keep our children safe as well as causing the kiddie pool to be shut down and our little ones upset that they can't play there.

Thanks!
Pool Board

Children's pool closed for cleaning

The children's pool is closed for cleaning as of 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 23 — it will be closed for at least 24 hours. Look for it to be open sometime Sunday afternoon.

Children's pool closed for cleaning/swim diaper reminder

The children's pool is closed for cleaning again. This is a good time to remind pool users that young children who are not toilet trained should wear swim diapers at all times while swimming or using the pool. (Can you guess the connection?)

Save the date for the Block Party at the Pool

Save the date for the second annual Westbridge Neighborhood Block Party. It will be hosted at the pool on Saturday, June 18 from 3 to 10 p.m. All Westbridge residents are welcome — pool members or not. Stay tuned here for more details, including potluck-style food assignments.

Please send your RSVPs to the social committee westbridgesocial@gmail.com and by looking out for the coming Facebook event invitation.
